About
The Centre for Research into Ecological and Environmental Modelling is an inter-disciplinary research Centre at the University of St Andrews, linking researchers from the Schools of Mathematics and Statistics, Biology, and Computer Science, and to a lesser extent Geography and Sustainable Development. CREEM is a founding member of the National Centre for Statistical Ecology and has strong links with other institutions in this Centre.
Vision: A sustainable and biodiverse world underpinned by ecological understanding and evidence.
Mission: We develop, apply, and promote world-leading, interdisciplinary research and innovation through statistical and quantitative methodological developments, provision of training, and collaboration to support effective conservation and management of the natural world.
We specialise in developing and applying innovative mathematical and statistical methods to solve problems in biology, ecology and geography. Explore our Research and Impact pages for examples. In addition to developing new methods, we have a group that specialises in contract research and consultancy.
Many CREEM staff are housed in our purpose-built facility at the university observatory while others are housed in their respective schools.
We welcome research visitors, have a lively seminar programme, outreach programme, and offer professional training workshops as well as PhDs and an MSc in Statistical Ecology.
