Abstract

We estimated the size of the hooded crow population in three municipalities in Northern Italy (Cuneo, Piedmont) using line transect methods in 2009-2010.  Classical methods including parametric, kernel and semiparametric approaches together with more advanced methods suggested in the literature were used and compared in terms of Akaike’s Information Criterion and empirically using Laake’s wooden stakes data.
