ICODS was the first major international conference focussing on distance sampling methods. The theme of the conference was ‘Estimating Wildlife Abundance for Ecology, Management and Conservation’.

The programme consisted of plenary lectures by world-leaders in the field, as well as contributed oral and poster papers.
