Workshop 2: Advanced Techniques in Distance Sampling

Mary Woodcock Kroble
Tuesday 9 January 2007
Start date: 20 August 2007 - End date: 22 August 2007
Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

A workshop designed for those who are already familiar with the basics, where we will teach advanced material such as automated survey design, adaptive sampling, incorporating covariates into the detection function, methods for where g(0)<1, and spatial modelling of density. Participants will learn the more advanced features of version 5 of Distance.

Second in a series of workshops describing the application of distance sampling methods to issues of wildlife population assessment. Topics ranged from fundamental development of distance sampling concepts, through advanced methods of combining mark-recapture with distance sampling methods, to newly developed methods for fitting density surface models to data derived from distance sampling.
